A Nelson businessman is getting noticed on the social media video platform, TikTok during a visit to Europe to meet his daughter.
Jeff Shecter, who owns and operates Zap Welding and Glotech Sign Manufacturing in Nelson, is getting noticed thanks to a funny video post about a Canadian Dad in Europe post by daughter Hannah Teslin.
“My Dad hasn't really been back to Europe since 1973, so I found it fun to document his reactions to things while we were on our roadtrip around Europe together,” Teslin, a part-time content creator, said via email to The Nelson Daily.
“We went to Madrid, Toledo, Valencia, Cuenca in Spain and Heidelberg and Hamburg in Germany.”
Teslin, who attended South Nelson Elementary and Trafalgar Middle School in the early 2000s before moving to Victoria and graduating from Reynolds High School in 2008, is a Freelance Events and Social Media Consultant and Part-Time 'Lifestyle Content Creator' on IG and TikTok.
She likes to blog about her life as a Canadian living in Germany.
The video post was uploaded onto TikTok on December 4th and saw more than 114 thousand likes on TikTok and 16 thousand on Instagram in less than 24 hours.
The video post shows Shecter doing the Canadian thing, like picking up a bike that fell to the sidewalk from a rack, is fascinated with German engineering, helping the tourism economy by shopping local and even engaging in the local language to order a pint of beer.
“(My father) is a busy man and hasn't taken a vacation in years,” Teslin explains.
“He turned 70 this year and wanted to make a trip to visit me in Europe.”
“He finally was able to take some time away from his business and come visit me,” Teslin added.
“I hope he is able to retire soon, so he can spend more time exploring with me.”
The TikTok post continues to increase in numbers, now topping 226 thousand likes.
Now the real challenge for Teslin is to choreograph Father Jeff with a little dance step to keep this Nelsonite trending on TikTok.
