Local government elections are underway and the Sentinel is pleased to be giving you the best coverage in the region!  By now you have noticed the profiles of the candidates appearing on our site. All candidates are welcome to provide us with answers to a set of questions so that you, the reader, can compare their responses. These profiles can be viewed at any time simply by clicking on the Election coverage link on the left side of our home page, or through one of our election ads.  In addition to our coverage through profiles, you can ask candidates questions and they can respond to you right on the site. To ask a question, click on the “Add a new comment” link at the bottom of the profile. Candidates will monitor their profile and respond so everyone can see the answer.  I know that all of you are going to carefully review what candidates represent and their experience before making the important decision as to who is going to represent your needs the best for the next three years.  You can also attend the upcoming all candidates forums sponsored by the Boundary Sentinel, Boundary Regional Chamber of Commerce and Community Futures Boundary.  Here’s the list:

  • Tuesday, Nov. 1 Area D candidates at Grand Forks Senior Secondary auditorium (GFSS) at 7:15 p.m.;
  • Monday, Nov. 7 Area E candidates at Rock Creek Fair Grounds Pavilion at 7:00 p.m.;
  • Wednesday, Nov. 9 Grand Forks council, mayor, and trustees candidates at GFSS 7:00 p.m.;
  • Monday, Nov. 14 Midway council candidates at Midway Community Hall 7:00 p.m.;
  • Monday, Nov. 15 Christina Lake trustee candidates at Christina Lake Community Hall 7:00 p.m.

See you there – and remember to bring your questions if you want answers!
