Sandner, Cecilia Catherine

Cecilia Catherine Sandner passed away peacefully on August 30, 2013 at the age of 97. She was born in Greenwood, B.C. on April 22, 1916. She grew up in Greenwood and eventually went to work in the kitchen at the Dentonia Mine at Jewel Lake. It was there that she met Randy Sandner and they were married in 1934. Shortly thereafter they moved to Christina Lake where Randy and his brother Lincoln purchased an existing sawmill which they ran for many years. 

Cec enjoyed travelling and her community work. She was one of the founding members of the Christina Lake Community Hall and the Boundary Lodge in Grand Forks. She was also a member of the Christina Lake Hospital Auxiliary and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Randy and Cec also had a collection of antique cars and joined in several Antique Car Tours over the years. She also enjoyed visiting with her many friends and relatives. 

In 1973, Randy passed away and she continued to live in Christina Lake, for a total of 75 years, until 201 I when she moved into Boundary Lodge Assisted Living and then into Hardy View Lodge. 
She was also predeceased by her brothers Joseph and Edward and sister Mary, granddaughter Debbie and son Stanley. She is Iovingly survived by her sons Doug (Susan) and Ken (Anna-Lynn), grandchildren Bonnie and George Gemieff, Shirley Sandner and Mike Quirke, Janice and John Hiram and James Sandner, great-grandchildren Jordan, Brandon, David, Niko, Jeremy and Brooke. 
There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the Christina Lake Community Hall at l:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be sent to either Boundary Lodge Assisted Living or Hardy View Lodge. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Everett Baker of Grand Forks Funeral Home.
