Yale Bridge project
The Yale Bridge is much improved thanks to $664,600 worth of work done to resurface the bridge deck and sidewalk, as well as to replace deck joints.
“The people of the Grand Forks area and all who travel this stretch of Highway 3 rely on this bridge. This investment in our transportation infrastructure will keep people and goods moving smoothly,” said Boundary-Similkameen MLA John Slater
Why This is Important:
· The work restores the durability and impermeability of the concrete deck surface and sidewalks. Restores the traction and smoothness of the deck and sidewalks and restores the smoothness and water-tightness of the joints.
Project Details:
· Mechanical scarification of the asphalt approaches and concrete bridge deck surface.
· Scarification of concrete sidewalk, removal of delaminated, deteriorated and patch concrete within the sub-deck.
· High pressure water blast cleaning in conjunction with a vacuum truck.
· Removal, disposal and replacement of the abutment deck joints.
· Placement and curing of new high performance concrete overlay.
· Repair existing highway approaches to match new bridge deck
