Family Literacy Week fun for all
The national awareness initiative, Family Literacy Day, was celebrated in Grand Forks all week with fun learning activities for everyone.
Family Literacy Day, Friday, Jan. 27, is held annually to encourage a love of reading and writing in Canadian families.
The week in Grand Forks featured Journey to Learning activities stations at Hutton Elementary and at the Boundary Family and Individual Services Society (BFISS) Glanville Centre. There was a Pajama Story Time with librarian and chief story teller Lizanne Eastwood that was well attended and the Smart Apple Game at the Grand Forks and District Public Library, which was not well attended due to snow.
The events were sponsored by the Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy (CBAL) and the Grand Forks and District Public Library.
