Big Wheels for Little People
What little kid can resist the opportunity to climb inside a fire truck or sit inside a backhoe bucket?
But most of the time that kind of thing isn’t safe nor allowed.
Except once a year at the Big Wheels for Little People fundraising event for the Sunshine Valley Child Care Society.
This year was the second year for the event. It attracted lots of little kids and big kids to check out fire trucks, an ambulance, school bus, dump truck, backhoe and even a military vehicle brought out by the 44 Engineer Squadron in Trail. All the vehicles were parked at the Dick Bartlett Park on Sunday, June 17.
The by-donation entry fee, Rotary popcorn, face painting and hot dogs raised nearly $800 for the society. The Sunshine Valley Child Care Society provides day care and preschool programs for 67 kids. The money is used to buy program essentails and materials for the kids to use, said Fatima Faria, society executive director.
