Castlegar RCMP are continuing their investigation after a search warrant was executed in the city earlier this week.

On July 17th, 2024 the Castlegar RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, with support from general duty officers, executed a search warrant at a residence located in the 1600 block of Silverwood Crescent in Castlegar.

RCMP said the search warrant was obtained to further investigate the trafficking of drugs.

“Upon execution of the search warrant two occupants were located on the property, with one of occupants taken into police custody without incident,” Castlegar RCMP said.

“Investigators seized a quantity of drugs believed to be fentanyl, methamphetamine, along with Canadian Currency and other items consistent with the trafficking of illicit drugs.”

RCMP said the 57-year-old Castlegar male was later released from police custody.

Castlegar RCMP are continuing their investigation into possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The matter will be forwarded to the Public Prosecution Services of Canada for full charge assessment.
