Two arrested in Robson for possession of stolen, loaded handgun

On Nov. 30,  the Castlegar RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, with assistance of General Duty officers, executed a search warrant to a property located in the 1000 block of Mountain Street in Robson, according to RCMP Cpl. James Grandy. “Upon attendance, police took into custody without incident, a male and a female associated to the property,” Grandy said. “During the search police located a loaded handgun which was previously reported stolen after a break and enter to a Krestova residence that occurred April 24, 2023.

“Forty-two-year old Laurence Mckay, at the time of his arres,t was on court conditions to not possess firearms.  He has been held in custody after being formally charged with Careless Use or Storage of a Firearm, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Possess Firearm without a Licence and/or Registration, Possession of Restricted Weapon with Ammunition, Possession of Weapon Obtained Through an Offence and Possession of a Firearm Contrary to an Order.  Mr. Mckay is next scheduled to appear in Court December 4, 2023. “

Police say 43-year-oldold Serena Phillips has been formally charged with Careless Use or Storage of a Firearm, Possess Firearm without a Licence and/or Registration, Possession of Restricted Weapon with Ammunition, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm.  Phillips was released from custody to abide by bail conditions and is scheduled to next appear in Castlegar Court April 3, 2024.
