Trail CIBC robbed, police seeking suspect
On Feb. 2 at 3:51 p.m., frontline Trail RCMP officers responded to a robbery that occurred at the downtown CIBC banking branch located in the 1200 block of Bay Avenue, according to Trail RCMP Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.
“A Caucasian man wearing a yellow and gray jacket, sunglasses, blue face mask, and blue latex gloves entered CIBC and presented a note to the teller demanding money from her,” Wicentowich said. “The teller complied with the demand and the suspect escaped with $400 cash.”
He said the suspect was last seen fleeing down Eldorado Street toward Pine Avenue.
“Bank employees alert(ed) the police immediately after the man left. Officers conducted extensive patrols and spoke to members of the public in the area; however, they did not locate the suspect after the time of the incident. Officers questioned two possible suspects following the robbery.”
The incident remains under investigation.
