A Trail man is in police custody after allegedly stabbing his 74-year-old dad, according to RCMP Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.

“On Thursday, Jan. 5, at 7:06 a.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers and EHS responded to a report that a 27-year-old Trail man had stabbed his father, a 74-year-old Trail man, inside a residence in the 1100 block of Columbia Avenue in Trail.

“Officers arrested the 27-year-old man outside of the residence without incident. He is currently in police custody. EHS transported the victim to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital to treat his single stab wound. He is expected to survive.”

Wicentowich said the investigation is currently ongoing.

Trail and Greater District RCMP will be recommending one count of Aggravated Assault against the 27-year-old Trail man. No one else was at risk in this event. .
