Grand Forks RCMP recently executed a search warrant at a local hotel where police recovered various quantities of suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine.

The search happened on Saturday, March 13, 2021, when investigators from the Grand Forks RCMP executed a warrant on a hotel unit on the 7400-block of Donaldson Drive.

RCMP said a 46-year-old Grand Forks man was arrested at scene without incident. Police said this same hotel unit was the subject of another investigation in January of 2020 where investigators also seized illicit drugs.

“During this most recent search, Grand Forks RCMP seized a substantial amount of suspected illicit drugs in various forms,” the RCMP media release said.

“Although further lab testing is required to confirm their beliefs, investigators believe they have seized quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine. Investigators also seized a large sum of cash.”

RCMP said a Grand Forks resident was released from police custody while this latest investigation continues.

Grand Forks investigators will work with the Public Prosecution of Canada and compel him to court at a later time.

““This is another larger scale drug investigation resulting in a sizeable seizure,”” says Detachment Commander Darryl Peppler.

“I have commented in the past that we will continue to investigate these matters, and we will bring those that are making this community dangerous and unsafe before the courts.”

RCMP said information from the public can greatly assist police investigations.
