UPDATE: Body of missing Slocan man recovered
The body of a Slocan man has been found nearly a month after him being reported missing, according to RCMP Cpl. Jamie Moffat.
“On Feb.19, at approximately 2:30 p.m., RCMP responded to the area of the bridge near Main Street, in the Village of Slocan, after being informed by a pedestrian of the discovery of a deceased individual down an embankment, near the river bank,” Moffat said.
“Slocan RCMP and the BC Coroners Service have identified the deceased as 65-year-old, Slocan resident, Douglas Morrison who was reported missing on Jan. 22, 2020.
At this time, criminality is not suspected in Douglas’ sudden death and the BC Coroners Service is also investigating to determine how, where, when and by what means he came to his unexpected death. The Slocan RCMP wish to extend their thanks to the media, the public and each of the search and rescue teams who volunteered countless hours of their time to assist in the search efforts to locate Douglas.
The RCMP and the BC Coroners Service have no further information for release.

The Slocan Lake RCMP is seeking assistance in locating Douglas Morrison, who was reported missing on Jan. 22, 2020, according to RCMP Cpl. Jamie Moffat.
Morrison is a 66-year-old Caucasian. He was reported missing from his residence in Slocan, BC, by a neighbor who last saw him on or about Jan. 14, 2020.
Searches have been conducted in the area around Douglas Morrison’s residence, with the assistance of Nakusp Search and Rescue, without positive result.
Morrison is described as about 5’9”, approximately 141 lbs, slim build, hazel eyes with balding grey hair.
