Castlegar man killed by train
A Castlegar man was killed by a train Saturday, according to a press release issued by RCMP Cpl. Jason Olney Tuesday afternoon.
“On Sept. 1, … at about (1:30 p.m.), Castlegar RCMP responded to a report of a missing person, he said. “Shortly after receiving the report, RCMP located the missing 54-year-old male of Castlegar. He was located deceased on a remote portion of rail tracks in Castlegar.”
He said the BC Coroners Service and the KBRD RCMP Forensic Identification Services attended the scene.
“An investigation determined the male came into contact with a train and succumbed to his injuries,” he added. “Criminal foul play is not involved and the matter is turned over to the Coroners Service. The Coroners Service and RCMP have no further information available at this time.”
