Cops capture cache of alleged Castlegar criminals
Five Castlegar residents were arrested after police executed a search warrant yesterday, according to Acting Sgt. Brett Turner.
“The Joint Crime Reduction Unit of the Castlegar and Trail RCMP, assisted by uniform officers from Castlegar, executed a search warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act in the early evening of July 4,” Turner said, adding it was at residence in the 2600 block of 5 Avenue.
“Five people were taken into custody and a quantity of material believed to be illegal drugs was seized. The drugs are being analyzed and the investigation is ongoing,” he added. Four people were released on a Promise to Appear in Court, and one person remains in custody at this time.”
He said all five are known to police and the warrant was the result of a long-term, ongoing investigation.
