Gulch explosion leads to evidence seizure
There have been no arrests, but evidence has been seized after an explosion in Trail’s Gulch area last month, according to Trail RCMP Sgt. Darren Oelke.
“On May 25 … Trail RCMP received a report of an explosion and fire at a residence on Rossland Avenue in Trail. Upon attendance, police found the residence fully engulfed in flames and several firefighters of the Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue working at putting out the fire.
“A 42-year-old male resident was located outside the home and transported to hospital with significant injuries sustained in the fire. A female resident was also home at the time but not injured. The residential fire resulted in the evacuation of several residences in the area.”
A dog living in the residence escaped unharmed.
“An ongoing police investigation led to the execution of a search warrant on June 1, 2018 where numerous pieces of evidence were seized.
“Investigators have deemed the explosion and fire to be suspicious in nature. They are asking anyone who has any information in relation to this incident to contact the Trail RCMP Detachment at 250-364-2566.”
