Explosion closes highway, sends one to hospital
A Trail man has been transported to hospital with unknown injuries following an explosion in the Gulch today, according to Trail RCMP top cop Sgt. Darren Oelke.
He said the call came in at 12:45 p.m.
“The windows blew out, there’s debris everywhere – it was a good explosion,” Oelke said, adding the cause of the blast is still under investigation.
He said there was also a woman in the home, who made it out safely, and a dog, who is also fine.
The subsequent blaze in the house forced authorities to close Rossland Avenue, but as of this interview (at 3:19 p.m.), Oelke said it looks like the fire has been extinguished and the highway will be re-opened soon to single-lane traffic.
He said no adjacent structures were threatened.
