In a media release Wednesday, Nelson Police said the officers are still investigating the disappearance of a Nelson man who was last seen at 9:30 p.m on (Sunday) June 4, 2017 in the 200 block of Anderson Street in Nelson.

NPD said Darwen Greyeyes is a 55-year-old First Nations male with brown, collar length hair and brown eyes.

Police said he has visible tattoos on both forearms and was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black t-shirt and brown hiking shoes.

“Since the initial report it is believed that Mr. Greyeyes would likely have had a red and black backpack with him and may have been wearing a dark blue or black hoody,” the release said. “Mr. Greyeyes is known to walk, hitchhike or use public transportation to travel.”

Police said several calls from the public have been investigated but there have been no successful leads in the investigation to this point.

“Outdoor enthusiasts are encouraged to keep an eye out for Mr. Greyeyes as he enjoyed hiking local trails and the tranquility of Kootenay Lake,” the release said.

Police said Greyeyes has not made contact with any of his family to date and they are very concerned for his welfare.

If anyone has seen or had contact with him since June 4, 2017 please contact your local police department.
