Here at the Grand Forks and District Public Library we are excited to begin a wild summer with our Summer Reading Club! This year’s theme is “Walk on the Wild Side” which celebrates our natural world around us.

Celebrating Canada’s 150 th birthday along with our nature orientated theme will surely offer an exciting summer at the Grand Forks and District Public Library.

The program is for children ages 4-11 with several time slots available for your kids! Following last year, we will require parents to be present in the building for children ages seven and under. The Summer Reading Club motivates kids to read (or to be read to) regularly, which helps to maintain and improve their reading skills. The Summer Reading Club is completely free and offers kids an opportunity to participate in fun activities, crafts, and most importantly reading! We are also thrilled to offer special guests and speakers who are excited to share their expertise about the natural world around us, stay tuned!

The Summer Reading Club is graciously sponsored by the Province of British Columbia, through Libraries Branch, Ministry of Education, and the RBC Foundation. It also would not be a success without the generous support of our community to help make the best experience for the Summer Reading Club participants. I want to extend a special thank you to RDKB Area ‘C’/ Christina Lake, Director, Grace McGregor and Area ‘D’/ Rural Grand Forks, Director, Roy Russell for their exceptional support this summer!

We look forward to read, read, read, with your children this summer! Registration begins June 20 and goes until June 30 at the Grand Forks and District Public Library. For more information about our Summer Reading Club contact us at 250-442- 3944, or our Summer Reading Club coordinator Vanessa Pavan at src@gfpl.ca. Let’s have an adventurous summer and “Walk on the Wild Side!”
