Pair charged with trafficking cocaine, MDMA
Two West Kootenay residents are facing charges for trafficking after Nelson Police found drugs in a vehicle during the execution of a traffic stop in the downtown core Tuesday (March 28) Sergeant Dino Falcone said in a media release Thursday.
Falcone said the arrest began when police officers pulled over a vehicle at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday with a male driver and female passenger.
“The 25 year-old male from Nelson was charged with three (3) counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking with what police believe is cocaine and MDMA,” Falcone said.
“He was also charged with possession of proceeds of crime.”
“The 20 year-old female from New Denver was also charged with the same offences,” he added.
Falcone said a significant quantity of cocaine and several hundred tablets of MDMA were seized in the investigation.
The pair were released on a Promise to Appear and conditions to not have any contact with each other. Their first appearance is scheduled for Nelson Provincial Court on June 27, 2017.
