West Arm residents want look into own mayor, council

There’s a bit of an independence movement brewing along the shores of Kootenay Lake east of Nelson.
Some residents living in Balfour, Harrop, Procter and area want a bigger say in their local government.
At last Thursday’s meeting of the board, Area E director Ramona Faust asked the Regional District of the Central Kootenay to study the cost and impact of the Area seeking ‘district municipality’ status.
