September weather, as normal as it comes

Finally, a normal month on the calendar.
Ron Lakeman at the Southeast Fire Centre Weather Services said September was a “near normal” month.
“The mean monthly temperature was within 0.1 of a degree of normal (while) the monthly rainfall was 89% of normal,” Lakeman said.
Lakeman said a broad upper trough of low pressure allowed for unsettled conditions with scattered light showers during the initial eight days of the month.
“A series of Pacific disturbances produced more significant showers and isolated thundershowers at times between the 17th and 23rd,” he explained.
“The most substantial surge of moisture during the month pushed north-northeastward from the coast of Oregon-northern California for 10.2 millimetres of rain during the night of the 30th.”
Lakeman said high pressure was more prevalent for dry, fairly sunny and warm conditions during the second week of the month and again from the 24th through the 29th.
The warmest temperature of the month was 29.5 degrees during the afternoon of the 16th.
“No records were broken this month,” Lakeman said.
Unfortunately, the past week of picture, perfect fall weather is going to shift into a rainy time as the seven-day forecast calls for chance of showers with temperatures hovering in the low teens.
