Fernie Search and Rescue assist in rescue of injured biker
Fernie Search and Rescue successfully removed an injured woman from the trail called Eric’s Trip Saturday, September 24.
Search and Rescue officials were called to assist the injured mountain biker from the trail located adjacent to the Mt. Fernie Provincial Park Saturday afternoon.
Mt. Fernie Provincial Park is located a short distance west of Fernie.
The post on the Fernie Search and Rescue Facebook Page said the biker, a 46-year-old woman, sustained hip fractures when she landed awkwardly after riding over a man made structure (jump).
The Fernie SAR team accessed the injured woman from the lower reaches of the trail, stabilized her on a clam shell, and a wheeled stretcher, along with ropes and manpower were used to bring her down to the waiting BC Ambulance team.
The Fernie SAR team wish her a speedy recovery.
