Bombers host Youth Basketball Camp at LVR Hangar
Basketball has been big in the news with NBA free agent moves along with Canadian Men’s National squad trying to qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.
In Nelson, at the L.V. Rogers Gymnasium, young basketball enthusiasts can learn a thing or two about the game at the 2016 Bomber Basketball Camp.
The summer camp goes from July 18-21 at the LVR Hangar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.
The camp is open to girls and boys from Grades 4 to 9.
For the cost of $100, campers receive instruction on basketball fundamentals, including shooting, passing and ball handling skills.
There will be 1-on-1, 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 competitions through the week and prizes throughout the day.
L.V. Rogers Junior Boy’s coaches Bruce Fuhr and Fred Brown are hosting the camp, with additional support from graduating Junior Bomber players. Fuhr has coached and officiated the sport of basketball extensively in the Kootenays while Brown coached high school varsity teams in Ontario.
