Cranbrook RCMP are looking for a prankster playing April Fool’s joke a day early.

Key City RCMP received several reports Thursday (March 31) morning from vehicle owners with the wrong license plates on their vehicle.

RCMP said it appears that sometime Wednesday night someone played an early April Fool’s prank.

Police, trying to return the right plates to the owners, are asking the public in Cranbrook to check their respective license plates.

RCMP said suspects could be charged with Mischief, but more importantly it could cause delays in an investigation if police aren’t able to quickly determine ownership.

For more information contact the Cranbrook RCMP at 250-489-3471.
