Premier Clark, PM Trudeau issue statements following Paris attacks

Paris was rocked Friday night as a series of terrorist attacks targeted young concert-goers, soccer fans and people out at popular nightspots, killing at least 120 people.
More than 200 were injured in at least six separate attacks around the capital Friday.
The worst of the attacks came at the Bataclan concert hall hosting an American rock band where the attackers took hostages before security forces stormed the hall.
The standoff ended after police stormed the concert hall and the attackers detonating explosive belts.
The Islamic State group on Saturday claimed responsibility for a wave of attacks in Paris.
Premier Christy Clark issued the following statement after the attacks in Paris:
“Like all Canadians, I was shocked and sickened by the news from Paris.
“For centuries, France has been a beacon of light and example for the world, and remains one of our closest friends and allies. Tonight, all Canadians and British Columbians stand with them, both in grief for those who were killed, but also in resolve. Those who commit such acts of violence want to change us, and our shared values. They will fail.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and with security personnel who put their lives at risk to keep others safe.
Vive la France.”
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau today issued the following statement after learning of a number of terrorist attacks in Paris, France, as well as the taking of hostages:
“I am shocked and saddened that so many people have been killed and injured today in a number of terrorist attacks in Paris, France, and that many others are being held hostage.
“As the situation continues to unfold, Sophie and I join all Canadians in extending our deepest condolences to the families and friends of those killed. It is our sincere hope that the hostages are freed unharmed as soon as possible. We also wish a speedy recovery to all those who have been injured.
“Canada stands with France at this dark time and offers all possible assistance. We will continue to work closely with the international community to help prevent these terrible, senseless acts.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of France and we mourn their loss.”
