Searchers find body of hiker in Whistler/Pemberton area
A hiker has been found dead in the Whistler/Pemberton area, according to RCMP Staff Sgt. Steve LeClair.
“On Oct. 24 at 8:34 p.m., Whistler Pemberton RCMP were advised of an overdue hiker who had intended to hike in the Cerise Creek area and stay at the Keith Flavelle Hut north of Pemberton,” LeClair said. “Police attended to the parking area and located the hiker’s vehicle. A search was conducted at first light on Oct. 25 involving Pemberton Search and Rescue, Whistler Search and Rescue and two helicopters.
“Pemberton and Whistler SAR members continued the search throughout the day and at approximately 2:30 p.m., the missing hiker was located deceased in a crevasse. The Coroner was notified and attended the scene.”
