Missing Salmo hunter found near Rosebud Lake
It didn’t take long for good news to be released about the missing Salmo hunter.
Sgt. Darryl Little of the Kootenay Boundary Regional RCMP said Travis Ranis has been located safe and sound near Rosebud Lake.
“Rinas contacted his wife by cell phone a short time ago advising he had a flat tire last night, spent the night in his truck and walked out this morning gaining cell coverage,” Little said.
“He was not injured and is in good physical condition.”
Search begins for missing Salmo man
RCMP is asking for public’s assistance in locating a hunter who has been reported missing in the Salmo area.
Sgt. Darryl Little of the Kootenay Boundary Regional RCMP said the man is 39-year-old Travis Rinas of Salmo.
“Mr. Rinas had left his residence to go hunting in the afternoon and was expected home before dark,” Little said.
“Unfortunately, he did not tell his wife the exact location where he planned on hunting, however, he did leave a map with a number of pins in it, suggesting areas he might attend.”
Little said Search and Rescue is checking the Bombi and Kootenay Passes, Erie Creek and a number of Forestry Roads in the Salmo area.
Little said Rinas is described as being:
- 6’1″, 230 pounds, blond hair and blue eyes
- He is driving a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck with a wooden rack on the box, BC Licence is JP0323
Little said anyone with information regarding Rinas is asked to call local RCMP detachment.
