Property crimes continue, police urge residents to caution
A continuing rash of property crimes in the Trail area has prompted police to issue a warning to residents, according to RCMP Cpl. Darryl Orr.
“Over the past two months, the Trail and Greater District RCMP have responded to a number of reports of theft of motor vehicle, theft from motor vehicle and theft of license plates off vehicles,” Orr said. “(Police) wish to remind the public to be diligent with security measures. Make sure your vehicle is locked at all times, do not leave anything of value in your vehicle, and never leave the keys to your vehicle in your vehicle or in a location that is easily accessible to thieves. “
He said most of the incidents that have been investigated involve vehicles that were left unlocked, which is an open invitation for criminals.
“The Trail and Greater District RCMP are actively investigating these incidents and are working hard to identify the person/s responsible,” he said. “Anyone with any information regarding these incidents is urged to call (Trail RCMP at 250-364-2566) or report anonymously at Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-(tips)8477.”
