There are lots of exciting things happening at the library, so I’ll skip the preliminaries and get right to it!

Film Club

Our next NFB movie night is on Thursday, June 11 at 6:30 pm – we’ll be screening Trick or Treaty? (85 minutes). Here’s a blurb on it: “This documentary profiles Indigenous leaders in their quest for justice as they seek to establish dialogue with the Canadian government. By tracing the history of their ancestors since the signing of Treaty No. 9, these leaders aim to raise awareness about issues vital to First Nations in Canada: respect for and protection of their lands and their natural resources, and the right to hunt and fish so that their societies can prosper…In this powerful documentary, those who refuse to surrender are given a chance to speak out.” Popcorn will be served!

Lego

If you love Lego, then you’ll want to be at the library on Friday, June 12 from 2:00 – 3:30 pm. We have (I think) just about every kind of piece you could ever hope for!

Let’s talk about…

…dogs! Join us on Thursday, June 18 at 6:30 pm for an informal conversations on all things dog: breeds, trainers, kennels, dog parks, and more. Share what you know, learn what you don’t. Everyone is welcome (except dogs – ironically).

Fabulous Friday

We’ve got another of our Fabulous Fridays coming up – it will be on Friday, June 19 from 2:00-3:30. We’ll have our usual array of board games, crafts, puppets, chess, and more. All ages welcome (children under 7 must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver).

Live Music

Come celebrate St-Jean Baptiste Day at the library (a day early) – the dynamic duo Vazzy will be sharing their music with us on Tuesday, June 23 at 6:30 pm.  Their lively show will include dance tunes from the French-Canadian and Canadian repertoire, and if past years are any indication, you’ll want to arrive a few minutes early if you want a good seat! All ages welcome – refreshments will be served.

Breaks

We’ll be taking a break from our Friday morning storytimes – there will be no storytimes on June 12, 19, and 26, but we’ll be back on July 3. Our Spanish conversation club will be taking a summer break, and will return in September.
