Grand Forks’ Second Lieutenant (2nd Lieut.) Randy Frank, the Commanding Officer of 841 Boundary Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Cadets  was promoted from Officer Cadet (O/Cdt) to 2nd Lieut.  At the time of his promotion, 2nd Lieut. Frank was in Trail with his squadron attending a multi-unit Leadership/Bush Weekend.

With this promotion, 2nd Lieut. Frank is now a Commissioned Officer of the Cadet Instructor Cadre (CIC) which is a reverse branch of the Canadian Armed Forces.  Members of the CIC are part-time members of the Canadian Armed Forces and volunteer their time to help the youth in their local community.

This is 2nd Lieut.  Franks first promotion and comes after he has attended courses in Victoria at the Regional Cadet Instructor School (RCIS) and completed several online courses.  Second Lieut.  Frank also work at the Cadet Summer Training Centre in Vernon, BC last summer.

Second Lieut. Frank has been the Commanding Officer of 841 Boundary Squadron for the last year and has worked with the squadron for the last three years.

The 841 Grand Forks Boundry Squadron meets every Tuesday night during the school year and during the summer the cadets have the opportunity to attend summer courses at various training locations across Canada.

The Royal Canadian Air Cadets, in partnership with the Air Cadet League of Canada and the Department of National Defence has been training youth in Canada for over 70 years.  The Cadets are the largest government funded youth program in Canada with over 50,000 participants across Canada.  The Royal Canadian Air Cadets accepts youth between the ages of 12 and 18 years who have a desire to learn more about the air element of the Canadian Forces, wish to develop the attributes of leadership and good citizenship and who wish to promote physical fitness.  While the program is military based, there is no obligation for a cadet to join the Canadian Armed Forces when he or she finishes their cadet career.  Cadets are also encouraged to learn more about opportunities within Canada’s Aviation Industry.

Locally, there are Air Cadet Squadrons in Trail, Nelson, Castlegar and Grand Forks.
