CL launches digital trails project
The Christina Lake Digital Trails team presented results of a 10 month project to packed room at the Christina Lake Welcome Centre, Feb. 26.
Cavan Gates, Pierce LeClair, Melissa Shim, Cherisa Patton, and Kim Kinakin presented the results of the Christina Gateway CDA Job Creation Partnership project to over 60 people at the centre.
For the last 10 months the Christina Lake Digital Trails Team has been working hard at gathering useful information (photos, videos, testimonials, gps tracks ect.) to gear up for the launch of a new trails map, trail specific website and other great tools for making trail exploration easier.
The team enjoyed engaging with the trails in a variety of ways; horseback riding, hiking, mountain bike riding and even accessed a couple via watercraft. In addition, the Digital Trails Team is hopeful to increase the local economy by focusing the natural trails as a main attraction to increase trail use.
It was held at the CLWC with Lisa’s Bistro bestowing many delicious snacks and coffee to the audience; family, friends, local businesses and key supporters to the project, including Area C Director Grace McGregor, were present. Meike Wege was also recognized for lending her advice on key areas of the project.
It was an exciting time for everyone who was involved in the project, anticipating unveiling the months of work. Presented was a new revised trail map showcasing over 27 trails with descriptions and access directions, new trail head access signs, and a preview of Christina Lakes new trails website, cltrails.info expected to be fully populated by the end of March.
For those of you who wished to be at the presentation but missed it (we know about busy schedules :o), you can view the entire presentation online at whatsupgf.com courteously produced and provided by Les Jonhson. Happy trailing and we hope to see you on the trails this year.
