Rocky Mountain House man charged with second degree murder after Fruitvale man succumbs to injuries

A 24-year-old man from Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, is facing Second Degree Murder charges after a 52-year-old man succumbed to life-threatening injuries Sunday night in Fruitvale said RCMP Const. Kris Clark.
Clark said Jordan Brian Shimell remains in police custody and is scheduled to appear in Rossland Provincial Court on January 5, 2015, to face second degree murder charge.
Trail & Greater District RCMP received a report at 9:51 p.m. of a man suffering serious, life-threatening injuries at a residence in Fruitvale on Sunday (December 28).
Police said officers arrested a suspect without incident at the scene while the 52-year-old resident was rushed to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The victim has been identified as Scott Douglas Decembrini, 52, of Fruitvale.
The BC RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit, with assistance from Kootenay Boundary Regional District RCMP and Trail & Greater District RCMP resources, continues the investigation.

Fruitvale man dies; another man in police custody
A Fruitvale man has died and another man is in police custody after an incident yesterday, according to RCMP Const. Kris Clark.
A 24-year-old man is in custody after police responded to a Fruitvale residence on Sunday night, where a 52-year-old man was suffering from life-threatening injuries.
On Dec. 28 at 9:51 p.m., the Trail RCMP received a report of a man suffering serious, life-threatening injuries at a residence in Fruitvale. Officers arrested a suspect without incident at the scene while the 52-year-old resident was rushed to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Pending notification of next of kin the family has requested that the name of the deceased not be released.
The suspect and victim were known to each other; the suspect remains in police custody pending further investigation.
“It’s early in the investigation,” said Clark. “We are conducting a homicide investigation until or unless information comes to light that proves otherwise.”
