RCMP in Creston is on the hunt for a jewellery thief near the East Kootenay City.

Investigators are seeking public assistance in identifying suspects after $1,000 worth of jewellery was stolen from a Wynndel-area home.

The theft was reported to Creston RCMP (Sunday) July 27 of this year from a residence in Wynndel.

The heist took place sometime during the previous year when a significant amount of jewellery was taken from the home with an estimated loss of over $50,000.

The jewellery had been stored in their boxes but the suspect took the time to repack and replace all the boxes so as not to arouse suspicion.

As a result, the theft went unnoticed for an unknown period of time.

Police are looking for public assistance in identifying the person or persons responsible for this theft.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Creston RCMP at 250-428-9313, or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
