LIBRARY MUSINGS: NaNoWriMo starts

Grand Forks and District Public Library
By Grand Forks and District Public Library
November 5th, 2014

We’ve got lots going on this November – from novel writing to sign language, knitting and more! And lots of new books, including the non-fiction books I’ve listed at the very end.

Sign Language

Back by popular demand! Our drop-in sign language classes have started up again, and will be held at the library on Thursdays from 1:00 – 2:00 pm (from now until December 18). Come join Tammy and Leanne (Sunshine Valley Community Services) for a fun and engaging hour.

NaNoWriMo

That’s no typo – it’s short for National Novel Writing Month (or what some of us call “November”). Come to the library Thursday afternoons in “November” from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and get busy writing with other writers. We’ll kick things off on November 6th with a special presentation by Dani Collins at 1:15 pm – she’ll discuss how she published a book that she wrote during NaNoWriMo. You could be next!

Lyme Disease

Join us on Saturday, November 1 at 10:30 am for a presentation on Lyme Disease, coordinated by Laurie Grant (WildSafeBC) and featuring Jim Wilson (president of the Canadian Lyme Disease Foundation). Learn about what causes the disease, how to recognize symptoms, and how to prevent it.

Teen Knitting

Our teen knitting classes are back – we’ll be meeting Thursday afternoons from 3:30 – 5:00 pm, November 6 to December 18. All materials are provided!

Remembrance Day

The library will be closed on Tuesday, November 11 for Remembrance Day.
