Get your costumes ready for a ghoulishly fun time at the annual Freaker’s Ball! This local tradition is a fund raising dance renowned as the best Halloween party in town.

Part of the fun at the Freaker’s is the chance to win great prizes for creative costumes, enjoy snacks throughout the night, and, of course, dancing the night away.

Les Folles Jambettes Cancan Troupe, recipients of a 2011 volunteer award from the City of Grand Forks, is busy again hosting the popular Ball on Saturday, Nov 1st.

We are excited to have Blue Crush, a three piece band based in Trail who has been rocking audiences throughout the Kootenays for many years, serving up the dance tunes this year.

Here’s some info on these awesomely accomplished musicians:

Terry Alton has been a pro guitarist for over 40 years (OK he’s the old guy), played with Idle Eyes, CFOX Electric Lunch Orchestra who backed up several major artists throughout the Eighties in Vancouver at the Commodore Ballroom, 86 Street Music Hall and opened for Steppenwolf at Expo Theatre.  Graduated from Musician’s Institute in Hollywood, CA.  Toured the world on cruise ships with wife Tonnie Stewart as TnT duo.  Master of rock, blues, R & B, country and jazz styles.

Jason Thomas is a multi-talented songwriter, vocalist, guitarist and bassist has been performing for over 12 years.  He has written over 200 songs, 2 of which “Loud” and “She’s Gone” were featured on Jay Dee Bixby’s (Candian Idol Runner-Up) recent CD “Work in Progress”.  Jason performs over 100 dates a year and provides a solid bottom end with his bass to every song in Blue Crush.

Jim Fike is a pro drummer and vocalist with over 30 years experience, originally from Ontario, he has travelled across Canada several times and performed with a Van Halen Tribute band and a very popular duo “Don Cherry for Prime Minister”.

A solid powerhouse with timing like a Swiss watch, he pounds out the beats to get people on (and keep them on) the dance floor.

Together Blue Crush has a great time every time they play, their professionalism and enthusiasm for performing live music makes for a great night of dancing!

Eat, drink and be scary at the Freaker’s Ball on Saturday, Nov 1st at the Christina Lake Community Hall. The doors open at 8:00 p.m. and tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Advance tickets are available at: Thistle Pot Gifts and Huckleberry Mountain Market. There will be a toonie shuttle available to get all of the boys and ghouls back to Grand Forks throughout the night.
