We’ve got something at the library you might know about – our very own Awesome Box. Anytime you’re returning a book/DVD/etc that you’ve checked out, you can put it in a small basket on the checkout desk (it’s got an “Awesome Box” sign on it), and that lets us know that you thought it was awesome. If you ever want to see what library items others in our community think are awesome, you can go to publiclibrary.awesomebox.io and look through all of them. Some of the latest ones include: The Complete Muffin Cookbook ; Game of Thrones; You Can Date Boys When You’re Forty (Dave Barry); The Gargoyle  (Andrew Davidson); Flash Boys (Michael Lewis); Big Nate Strikes Again; Wolf (Mo Hayder); The Good Luck of Right Now (Matthew Quick); and lots more!

Let’s Talk About…

…Electric Fencing and Bears! This latest talk in our WildSafeBC series will take place on Saturday, October 4 at 10:30 am. Gillian Saunders (electric  fencing expert) and Laurie Grant will lead an engaging and informative talk, which will include a hands-on demo out in Gyro Park – and by the end of it, you’ll know all the ins and outs of setting up your very own electric fence.

NFB Film Club

Our next movie night is on Thursday, October 9 at 6:30 pm – we’ll be screening “Shameless Propaganda”, an NFB documentary about…well…NFB documentaries! Through that lens, it offers a fascinating look at Canada and the views, prejudices, and moral crusades that make up our history. A must-see for history buffs and aspiring filmmakers!

Fabulous Friday

Come to the library on Friday, October 3 from 2:00 to 3:30 for a fun-filled fabulous friday – we’ve got crafts, board games, chess, and lots more! All ages welcome.

Lego

If you love Lego, then you’ll want to be at the library on Friday, October 10 from 2:00 – 3:30 pm. There are giant bins of every Lego piece you could ever imagine. All ages welcome –children 7 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Thanksgiving

The library will be closed on Saturday, October 11. Happy Thanksgiving!

Board Meeting

The library board will be meeting on Wednesday, October 15 at 12 noon, at the library. Everyone is invited to attend – it’s open to the public!
