The Greenwood Improvement Society (TGIS) has received a $10,000 Seed Funding grant from the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) to support a feasibility study to determine the need for a senior housing facility in Greenwood.

The award of this grant is the first step the Greenwood Improvement Society has made towards construction of housing specifically designed for senior living in Greenwood, BC.  CMHC Seed Funding will provide the financial assistance required to evaluate housing need and demand, and find funding and other resources.

Fred Marshall, President of the Greenwood Improvement Society, acknowledged “If the feasibility study indicates a strong need for a senior housing in Greenwood, TGIS can then move forward with credible information upon which they may base their request for provincial, federal and possibly private funding to construct such a facility”.
