UPDATED: Traffic moving again on Highway 3A north of Creston

Traffic is flowing, all but, slowly through a stretch of Highway 3A 31 kilometers north of Creston following a rock slide last week.
DriveBC website is reporting the road is reduced to single lane, alternating traffic until further notice.
Rock slide closes Highway 3A north of Creston
Getting from the West to East Kootenay is going to be a little difficult for travelers after a rock slide closed Highway 3A 35 kilometers north of Creston near Twin Bays.
Crews are on scene assessing the slide with the estimated time of full re-opening tentatively set for 10 a.m. Saturday.
Highways staff is allowing intermittent opening this afternoon with delays up to two hours.
There’s a sign posted at the Big Orange Bridge near Nelson warning motorists of the road closure.
However, staff at Kootenay Lake Ferry continue to warn drivers of the closure and the alternate route of travel to Creston and the East Kootenay using the Kootenay Pass.
But it’s not so easy for drivers wanting to get to the East Kootenay or back to the West Kootenay as there is avalanche control on the Kootenay Pass on the west side of the summit to the avalanche gates on the east side.
The road was closed from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with intermittent opening planned and delays up to two hours.
North of Kaslo 31 kilometers on Highway 31 there is avalanche controls over a three kilometer stretch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Motorists travelling this part of the region are advised to check Drive BC for updates.
