Four arrested with firearm/drugs
Four people are now facing charges after an observant resident noticed the passenger of a moving vehicle pointing a gun, according to RCMP Cpl. Debbie Postnikoff.
“On Feb. 1 at 8:30 p.m., Castlegar RCMP received a complaint relating to a passenger of a vehicle who was observed to be pointing what appeared to be a firearm,” Postnikoff said. “Police road blocks were set up throughout the Kootenay Boundary Regional Detachment area in efforts of locating this vehicle. At 9:17 p.m., the suspect vehicle came through a road block set up in Grand Forks. Members of Grand Forks RCMP and West Kootenay Traffic Services arrested four occupants and seized a significant amount of packaged marijuana. A firearm was subsequently located near the road block and seized by police.”
Postnikoff said none of the four proved to be locals.
“A 44-year-old Wycliffe man has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance and Trafficking in a Controlled Substance.He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in Court later on March 6 in Rossland.
“A 29-year-old Surrey man has been charged with Careless Use of a Firearm, Pointing of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance and Trafficking in a Controlled Substance and is scheduled for Court later today in Rossland.
“A 23-year-old Port Moody woman has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, Trafficking in a controlled substance, Careless Use of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm. She is remanded in custody and scheduled to appear in court on April 8 in Grand Forks.
“A 30-year-old Penticton man has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, Trafficking of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm, Careless Use of a Firearm and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm. He is scheduled for court later today in Rossland.
“The matter is currently being investigated by the Kootenay Boundary Regional Detachment General Investigative Section.”
