Remember what I talked about in my last column? About how our Board of Directors had passed a motion to do away with overdue fines? Well, that very same progressive Board is looking for a few good women and men to join in the fun – if you think you might be interested in joining the library Board, give us a call or stop by the library and I’d be happy to tell you more about what it entails.  It’s a great opportunity to contribute to your community, and to meet some very interesting and engaged folks. And now, on to some exciting library events:

Mother Goose

It’s back! Our parent-child Mother Goose Program will be returning –Saturday mornings from 10:30 am to 11:15 am (start date to be determined soon). It’s for children ages 0-3, and their parents or caregivers. For more information, call us at 442-3944.

Book Club

Our selection for January is The Chocolate Wars (Deborah Cadbury) – a riveting account of the 150-year rivalry between the world’s greatest chocolate makers. We’ll be meeting at the Christina Lake Living Arts Centre on Wednesday, January 29 at 1:30, and at the library on Thursday, January 30 at 7:00 pm. New members are always welcome!

Downton Abbey

The rumours are true – we will be having a Downton Abbey tea party in February (stay posted for more details). There will be games, Downton-inspired snacks, and fancy hats.  Yes, fancy hats – bring one if you’ve got one!
