Kamloops School District, police investigate 'exchange of inappropriate material'
The Kamloops School District is currently conducting an investigation after a staff member learned of “alleged exchange of inappropriate material” online.
RCMP were called to join the investigation that involves students from throughout the school district.
However, RCMP are keeping tight lipped about the nature of the investigation due to the age of the alleged students and would not say if the incident was sexual or violent in nature.
“At this point it is too early to categorize the nature of this investigation or to comment on any specific details,” said as statement issued by Cpl. Cheryl Bush on Tuesday..
“We are dealing with people under the age of 18, and will restrict our comments accordingly, as per legislation.”
Police confirmed Wednesday morning that the students’ parents have been informed of the investigation.
“The message to parents remains the same, that you need to be engaged with your children’s online and social media activities. This can lead to tough or uncomfortable conversations, but these conversations are critical,” said Bush.
