There will be no repeat for Whitewater in the Powder Magazine 2014 Ski Town Throwdown popularity contest.

The Nelson-based resort was eliminated in the second round of the contest by Revelstoke by the narrowest of margins — 1527 to 1507.

Throughout the day the ski hills traded leads, with Whitewater holding a slim four vote advantage an hour before the polls closed.

In the end, however, it was Revelstoke with the most votes, advancing the Columbia Country resort to the third round against the winner of Panorama/Invermere and Banff/Lake Louise.

The West Kootenay still has a favourite in the competition as Whitewater’s co-winner in 2013, Rossland’s Red Mountain, prepares for a second round meeting against Fernie November 5.

In 2013, Whitewater and Rossland combined forces to run the table and claim the Powder Magazine 2013 Ski Town Throwdown title.
