The City of Greenwood is talking about limiting the sizes of  “for sale” signs along the highway.

Mayor Nipper Kettle proposed that the signs be kept on the small size — giving the example of 10 inches by 10 inches — during the City’s regular council meeting Sept. 9.

Kettle says the idea is to prevent visitors from getting the idea that nobody wants to live there.

“Who would want to invest in a community where it seems like everything is for sale,” he said on his “Mayor Nipper Kettle” Facebook group.

There was some discussion on the subject and it was tabled until the City could assess how local businesses and residents feel about the idea.

However, Kettle says the people he has talked to are on-board. He also feels like this is one way to stimulate growth and investment in the community.

“How are we going to stimulate growth or investment unless we do something about the “curb appeal?” he said on the group’s page and encouraged people to talk to him about the issue.
