Fire fighters host annual Ladder-a-thon
The Grand Forks Fire Rescue held their 13th annual Ladder-A-Thon at the Overwaite parking lot over the weekend. Each year the Ladder-a-thon is used to raise money for different causes. This year, fire fighters are using the funds to build a new training ground near the Grand Forks Airport. The new training area will include a practice burn building.
A fire fighter sat at the top of the ladder — in one-hour shifts — for the duration of the fundraiser even at night and through the rain. Hot dogs, smokies and pop were on sale and boots were left out to collect donations. They also had games like a sledge hammer endurance test to keep visitors interested.
