“Help make Grand Forks be GMO free. Richmond did it, so can we,” was chanted Sat. May 25 when an impromptu protest against Monsanto was held at Gyro Park.

Monsanto is one of the largest producers of genetically-modified (GMO) seed and on May 25 a world-wide march was held to protest this (and similar) companies. The gathering was also used as a chance to express a desire for GMO products to be clearly labelled on packaged food. Richmond was cited as an example of a municipality that took a stand against GMO food sources when city council banned GMO crops in the city last year.
