The City of Grand Forks advises of changes to the Traffic Flow at the intersection located at 72nd Avenue and 8th Street. The installation of the new island to condense the intersection intends to improve the safety through better visibility and creating a reduction in speed.

A new yield sign for those driving east along 72nd avenue now offers a safe right turn onto 8th street. Additionally, east travelling traffic wishing to go straight through this new intersection, are now required to come to a stop well forward of the original stop sign greatly improving sight lines.

Due to the condensed intersection, a stop sign was required for 8th street north travelling traffic to safely maneuver the right turn onto 72nd Avenue.

The City has observed that traffic flows after the new island was installed indicate improved safety with better sight lines and slower speeds.
