New clauses added to dog bylaw for April 1
This article is NOT a real story – it was not intended to be taken seriously – this was a very clear April Fool’s joke.
In a surprise move, the regional partners meeting to discuss the final wording of the animal control bylaw saw more clauses added to the already controversial document.
The meeting, held just before the April 1 deadline for public input, was held behind closed doors, but sources (who cannot be identified for fear of being called fools) say the new clause expands the definition of vicious dogs and includes some ideas for controlling the feral cat population.
“It was brought to our attention that the vicious dog listing was outdated and unfair,” commented Jus Shu Tim, temporary animal control officer for the region. “The committee was concerned that they cover all possible threats to the community.”
Pomeranians, Shih tzus, Toy Poodles, and Chihuahuas are just some of the dogs named in the expanded bylaw under the vicious dog listing. The Sentinel’s source said that the committee heard from several community members who were adamant that these small but extremely dangerous dogs be included.
“Ankle biters – plain and simple. You think these small dogs are cute but then they run at you and rip you apart – they are totally unpredictable, vicious boot ornaments,” said Grand Forks resident Les Johnson after his presentation to the committee.
Paragraphs removed about controlling the cat population…
Don’t be fooled by the past presentations on this bylaw, the committee means business, said our source, today, April 1.
Have a happy April 1, from the Sentinel!
