LIBRARY MUSINGS: Cowherds, newspapers and missing fines
Hi Folks!
I have some announcements and some news, so here goes:
Overdue fines
There will no longer be any overdue fines for children’s material! That includes books, storytime boxes, DVDs, read-alongs, board books, and comics. This will apply to items that are borrowed as of now, but not those that were borrowed, say, last week. And also, please note that you will still be responsible for lost or damaged items.
Friends of the Library Book Sale
We’re gearing up for another massive book sale, so be sure to mark your calendars – April 25 to 27.
A Cowherd in Paradise
May Q. Wong, author of A Cowherd in Paradise, will be at the Christina Lake Living Arts Centre on Friday, April 12 from 2 – 3:30 p.m. She’ll be reading from her book, the true story of a couple who were married for over half a century, but were forced to live apart for 25 years because of Canada’s immigration laws.
Newspapers
We have lots of them! Come by and read them any time you like – we have subscriptions to the Grand Forks Gazette, the Globe & Mail, the National Post, the Vancouver Sun, the Province, and the Kelowna Daily Courier.
Placing Holds
We are happy to inform you all that magazines are now holdable. Current issues still cannot be borrowed, but you can always put them on hold so that you can borrow them as soon as possible!
Easter Holidays
The library will be closed on Friday, March 29 and Saturday, March 30 – Happy Easter!
