Pee Wee hockey championships underway

Grand Forks is playing host to a series of Pee Wee tier 4 hockey play-offs this week during spring break from school. At the end of the second day of play the Grand Forks team is sitting on one win and one loss while Kelowna tops the pack with two wins and one tie.

The Grand Forks loss was to Kelowna in Sunday’s play. Grand Forks goals scored by Nathan Jourdin and Malcolm Turner with assists to Ryan Steinbach and Levi Weiberg. Kelowna goals scored by Cole Carolei, Ryan Neilsen-Webb and Travis Brown as they took the lead on the home team. Assists went to Mason Gilowacki, Brad Tischler, Tyson Ludba, Cole Carolei (2) and Matt Fulford.

Kelowna had tied their earlier Sunday game against Vanderhoof, and followed up on Monday’s play with a win over Juan de Fuca 4 – 1. 

Grand Forks took their second game in the round against Prince George 3 – 1. At the time of press the scoring statistics were not posted.

The Grand Forks will see three more games in ice time over the next three days.

The final for this tier’s championship will take place at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, Mar. 21 in the Grand Forks arena..
