The Movember bar has been set high by the Grand Forks Pharmasave team of mo’men this year raising over $4700.

Deciding the best of the best was the final task for these mo’men who endured inspection on Monday afternoon from the mo’judges: Grand Forks city councillor Cher Wyers, regional director from area C Grace McGregor, Boundary Sentinel editor Mona Mattei and Grand Forks Gazette reporter Cassandra Chin.

Ian Mitchell came out on top with his full, dark ‘stache and his excellent Julian imitation (Trailer Park Boys), while Brian Johnson took honourable mention for creativity and Isabel Markle got special mention for her unique effort.

Graeme Carlson, owner of the local Pharmasave and instigator of this month of fun, underwent scrutiny too, although he declined participating in the prize round. Pharmasave matched the winner’s fund raising, which in Mitchell’s case was $347.

“I just want to personally thank all the men who joined the team this year – they really had a lot of fun in the process,” said Carlson. “And I want to thank the community for supporting all of us. I just randomly threw out the idea of a target of $5000 and we nearly did it!”

So, men, get ready for next year as Movember rolls around again and remember the judging criteria – creativity, thickness, colour and texture. You too can be Mo’man!
